The Art of Fashion

The Hôtel de Ville in Paris opened the “Paris Haute Couture” exhibition on Sat. March 2, to celebrate the high fashion art form.  The exhibit consists of approximately 100 dresses that evoke haute couture design standards alongside photographs, accessories and original sketches by the designers. The pieces in the presentation are ordered chronologically with the oldest design dating to 1895. The exhibit runs until July 6.

Famed fashion photographer Mario Testino is proving his versatility with an exhibit at Prism Gallery in Los Angeles.  The collection of photographs juxtaposes familiar fashion images of celebrities and models like Kate Moss, with previously unpublished still-life portraits and landscapes. The exhibit opened on Feb. 26 and marked the first time in seven years the Peruvian photographer opened an exhibition of his work.

Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld opened “Karl Lagerfeld: Fire Etchings” at St. Moritz’s Galerie Gmurzynska in Switzerland to showcase his take on portraiture. The exhibit runs through March and contains images of his current muses like rapper Theophilus London and model Freja Beha Erichsen appearing with a Roy Lichtenstein-esque pixelated effect.
